Eco Food Boards is based in the unsurpassed beauty of Byron Bay and as such caring for our environment and being sustainable is paramount to them.
The timber used for our boards is from Murwillumbah to Lismore. Trees felled by local farmers are collected by Eco Boards and the farmer is subsidised. As Camphor Laurel is considered a pest, when removed native plants can once again grow.
All off cuts are used as firewood and the sawdust is recycled and offered to be used on the veggie patch or to freshen up a compost toilet.
Why Camphor Laurel?
The anti-microbial chemicals found in Camphor Laurel occur naturally and after the wood is kiln dried it present no issue in terms of contaminating food. All chemicals in the timber are chemicals that occur naturally in our food and confectionery.
